Better performance, lower cost and stops depletion of the ozone layer
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), through the Clean Air Act, is regulating the production and use of refrigerants. These changes will eventually eliminate air conditioning and heat pump refrigerants containing chlorine due to growing concern about ozone depletion. R410A is an HFC refrigerant that has been developed to replace the HCFC refrigerant R22 and meets these standards.
Systems using R410a refrigerant operate at pressures approximately 1.6 times higher than systems using R22 or R407c. Water-cooled systems utilizing R410a refrigerant demand special regulating valves first introduced by Metrex Valve in 2000. Higher system pressures also make longer pipe separations achievable. Compressor displacement decreases by 30% and the heat transfer ratio improves by 35%. This allows for the use of smaller physical size system-components such as condensers, compressors, evaporators.
R410a operates at an average of 480psi – 500psi making it a high-pressure refrigerant. Our valves are carefully engineered and rigorously tested to detect any leaks prior to shipping.
